Designed by Chris Butler and built by Butler Mouldings this Achilles 850 is a good tidy example of a renowned fast, comfortable cruiser with a perfect balance of speed and accommodation. The 850 is a great boat for a couple or small family with 5 berths in 2 cabins and comfortable saloon space.
Built in GRP by Butler mouldings with an unquestionably high build quality this blue, twin bilge, with stub keel version of the 850 is a tough, fast and seaworthy design with examples having been used to cross the Atlantic and Baltic seas. Transom hung rudder with tiller steering, large comfortable cockpit with angled seat backs for more comfort when heeled.
Vessels auxiliary power is from a 2012 14hp Beta inboard diesel engine driving a technodrive seaprop 60 2 blade folding prop. The engine was installed new in 2012 and has been regularly serviced since, lastly in Oct 2019. The Yacht has a 50L diesel tank and twin batteries that are recharged by the engines alternator or shore power.
Sails and Rigging
Bermudan sloop rigged yacht with deck stepped alloy mast. Roller furling main and foresail. Stainless steel standing rigging and braid on braid running rigging led aft to helm. Vessel is very easy to sail and ideal as first yacht or sailing with a novice crew.
Accommodation and layout
Open plan saloon with central folding leaf table, forward cabin with kitchen and nav area to aft of saloon with ample storage and shelves throughout. 5 berths over two cabins with comfortable cloth upholstery and sea head.
