Description

English

"Lo Shu" is a Varne Folkboat that is in great condition and very well equipped. She was fitted out and entered for the 2008 Jester Azores race so has been set up for single-handed, long distance sailing including wind vane steering. She has a cosy and comfortable cabin suitable for weekends or extended periods aboard. She was re-engined in 2008 and had new sails in the same year. "Lo Shu" is ready to go and priced to sell. It is worth noting that "Lo Shu" is trailable as she weighs 2,150 kgs and a good road trailer is available by separate negotiation.

Owner’s Remarks

"Lo Shu" was prepared for single-handed offshore cruising by the previous owner in 2008 for the 2008 solo Jester Azores Challenge from Plymouth to the Azores. Three days into the race, under stormy conditions, the self steering gear failed and "Lo Shu" was forced to retire (replacement Sea Feather self steering gear fitted 2009).

In addition, "Lo Shu" was regularly entered in to the Round the Island race where the Folkboat handicap is particularly favourable.

The Varne Folkboat is a real pocket cruiser that is a delight to sail. She is very stable under sail and good passage times are possible with her fine bow, long keel and high ballast ratio. She is warm and dry with clean bilges.

Equipment available by separate negotiation:

- Hayling Island road trailer that has never been in the water (2006)

- Garmin EchoMap 50S (2017)
