Kittiwake is a very well kept example of these popular and capable cruisers. Not a huge boat by today's standards but a very practical layout and good use of the space resulting in generous accommodation and the ease of handling / responsiveness that is ubiquitous with the Hunter brand.
Her twin keel arrangement offers all of the conveniences of being able to sail in shoal waters and take the ground upright, although Hunter boats are known for being very well designed in this regard, greatly reducing the compromise in performance. Even the most discerning sailors cannot dispute that these boats are stiff, stable and weatherly enough to take good care of her crew even in challenging conditions.
The 27 TK was launched in 1989 as the first of the Horizon 27 line followed in early 90 by the 272 and later the 273.
We believe the differences are cosmetic and a clever marketing ploy by Hunter to keep the Hunter name in the Yachting press.
The main difference is that the Horizon TK came without the selftacker benefitting from the larger 140% genoa.
Self builders often opted for the larger 140% genoa too on their 272 and 273 giving their boats a outstanding sailing performance. There was also a option for a fin keel version.
