Description

This vessel was built as a 56 foot long, 14 foot beam, 6.5 feet draft motorsailor. I used this boat commercially hauling frieght to an island off the New England Coast. I have never operated a more seaworthy or comfortable boat in my career. It is a particular joy in a head or following sea, you can maintain speed comfortably and effortlessly in conditions that force much larger boats to slow down. this boat also never, ever, pounds. Given it's fine lines and relatively narrow beam it is exceptionally fuel efficent. I have had the entire vessel's exterior blasted to bare metal, and coated with epoxy paint. The same has beeen done with the bilges, the most imprtant thing to do for the long term vitality of a steel vessel. What you would be getting is a solid hull and deck, recently blasted and painted, and an excillent, low hour engine. This is of course a project boat, but given the cost to build this hull and deck structure today this boat would represent a considerable savings that could then be used to finish the boat in any configuration that you desire. There are many boats for sale, but few have the lovely lines and raw potential as this one. So many boats, especially steel ones, are so ugly, with bad hull forms that are anything but comfortable in a seaway, and have terrible fuel efficency to boot. I have been asked why I want to sell the boat after so much work, and the answer is that I don't. I've purchased land and a house that I've always wanted, and one of these projects have to go so that the other may florish. I am open to offers and negotiations resonable or otherwise. Photos: In the interior photos you can see white areas, this is the hull insulation and we discovered the steel underneath looked brand new and required no attention. There are several of the boat underway, and one docked at the island wharf for scale. as you can see by the photo of the wheelhouse, this was a basic workboat. I've also included the drawings for the new wheelhouse I had designed as an example of what could be done with the boat. This vessel would make an exceptional long range trawler or motorsailor when finished.
