First Light is in excellent condition with new non-skid paint on the deck and only 426 hours on the rebuilt engine (2011). A well maintained Ted Brewer designed, 1983 38 ft. Morgan. The Brewer designed 382, 383 and 384 series have a reputation for quality construction, great performance and ease of handling. First Light is a Morgan 384 series that incorporated several improvements over the 382. Those improvements were adding four dorades on large teak boxes, a larger rudder, increase of mast height by 4 feet, increase of keel weight by 1,000 lbs. and the main sheet traveler was moved out of the cockpit to the cabin top. We have owned First Light since 1992 (from 1992 to 2000 in partnership with Jim and Jack Taylor and their families). We have sailed her as far north as Martha's Vineyard, south Miami, but the Chesapeake Bay is our home cruising grounds. She is a wonderful boat, not too large for a couple to handle, but large enough to accommodate family and friends. We still love sailing First Light, but feel it is time for younger owners to enjoy her.
