The Bestevaer 56 Tranquilo is designed as a traditional pilot cutter with a typical classic appearance fitted out with a teak cladded deckhouse. Tranquilo has a teak caprail and a flush deck, giving the vessel the full classic look.
We place the vessel in the “Spirit of Tradition” class, being traditionally styled but showing powerful performance characteristics as a fine entry, shallow canoe body, lift keel, and balanced spade rudder.
The Bestevaer 56 Tranquilo is actually a ‘boat with a story’. The owner sails mainly solo and has twice sailed the Northwest Passage solo (in 2012 and 2017). And some people will recognise her from the picture where the ship is frozen in ice and snow in northern Canada.
Since 2006 she has logged more than 150,000 miles and has been in both polar circles. Although the painted hull and flush teak deck give the yacht a classic appearance, the Bestevaer 56 Tranquilo has a sleek and modern interior.
Bestevaer Tranquilo has been maintained regularly by both Orams Marine Auckland, New Zealand and KM Yachtbuilders, the Netherlands. Last refit was done in 2018-2019.
