Latitude 46 is a builder of both sailing and motor boats and has been based in France for the last 25 years on the Ile de Re. Worldwide, many have succumbed to the charms of these boats with their classical lines beneath which lies the highest standard of modern construction. And it is here that the unique strength of the company lies; preservation of unique French boat building skills, linked to the most modern methods of building with wood and composites. Without forgetting that each of the Latitude 46 designs bears the signature of Joubert / Nivelt, naval architects whose reputations extend well beyond the borders of Europe.

Accommodation

Bench seating with cushions to port and starboard, extends aft for additional berths. Cushioned area forward with a chemical toilet fitted under centre section.
Storage bags to port and starboard. Step up to cockpit. Large perspex washboard.

Construction

Hull in hand laid GRP re-inforced with a structure of frames and stringers.
Deck in sandwich GRP construction, glued and fastened to the hull.
Deck covered in 8mm teak, vacuum glued.
Cockpit coamings of varnished mahogany, removable for maintenance and covering all halyards and sheets.

Further information

A boat cradle is available if required. A mast cradle for use when transporting by road is also available.
This Tofinou 8 was lifted from the water January 2022 to the hard standing to be cleaned, antifouled and polished. Now launched March 2022.
Deck and cockpit have been cleaned when boat was launched March 2022
Folding prop has been cleaned, new anode fitted and faring around hull / keel improved.

Performing well under a light wind or a breeze, the Tofinou 8, with its responsive helm, is a dayboat that offers sensations similar to those of a sport dinghy, easy to manoeuvre in solo sailing or with a small crew. A cradle and mast cradle are available.
