1997 Post 50 “Sterling Lady” Overview

Sterling Lady is a two owner cruised rigged 50 Post that has spent virtually its whole life on the Chesapeake Bay with the exception of one season in FL. The boat was kept under cover 12 months a year by the first owner till we purchased the boat in 2003. The boat has been kept under cover during the winter by us since, with the exception of the time spent in FL.

No expense has been spared in maintaining the vessel to a very high standard. We are hands on owners, doing most of the care and maintenance ourselves on the vessel and employing professionals that have worked on the boat for years when it requires their knowledge and expertise. The vessel has been constantly upgraded over the years.

She is powered by twin 820 Man 10 cylinder diesels which have approximately 1,500 hours on them. At 1,900 rpm, mid cruise the boat cruises at an honest 30 knots at 45 gallons per hour.

Vessel overview and maintenance notes

This boat has the desired Plan B layout three stateroom layout with the master stateroom on the starboard. The port side stateroom features an office desk with cabinets above and below and a single bunk in lieu of the standard upper and lower bunks. Washer/Dryer in forward stateroom, separate icemaker in salon, instant hot water at galley sink, cockpit freezer/refrigerator.

In 1997 Post upgraded the 50 to include a much larger flybridge and redesigned helm. The back bulkhead and windows were redesigned also.

I perform most of the maintenance on the engines and generator myself. Oil is changed every fall, regardless of hours, impellers changed every two years, fuel filters once a year. Injectors, engine coolant flush and transmission oil is changed on a regular cycle by a professional technician that has worked on the boat since new. Boat is professional waxed twice a year topside and hull waxed at haulout each year.
