Tatu of Brading is a 9ton Hillyard. David Hillyard built hundreds of boats from 2 ½ tons to 29 tons and they were, and still are, immensely popular. The 9 tonner centre cockpit design gave 2 separate sleeping cabins plus a saloon which is ideal for extended cruising. She has a engine 1 x diesel 35hp, Perkins 4107. She is long keeled and shaft driven. Tatu of Brading has had an extensive refit that was undertaken by a Master Shipwright, under the direction of a well known local marine surveyor to include partial replacement of the keel, new keel bolts, new garboards plus two planks above.
