CROMARTY 36, COLNE ROSE
SALE AGREED
Afloat at Brightlingsea, Essex.
Built by Blondcell Marine in 1991 to the Design of Gordon Wyatt and David Freeman (the designers of the Fisher Range of Motorsailers), the Cromarty 36, Colne Rose is a very well built, comfortable, safe, long distance, family cruising boat.
Recently re-engined with a Volvo Penta D2-50 50hp Diesel, Colne Rose has been exceptionally well equipped and maintained, almost regardless of expense, with recent working sails, rigging, anchor windlass, anchor chain, calorifier, Solar panels and solar controller, Navigation electronics, radar, batteries. etc., etc.
She has wide side decks with high rails and plenty of hand holds. Moving around deck even under way, becomes a pleasure. The afterdeck table seats six for al fresco dining. *******(SEE VIDEO TOUR!) *****
The Cromarty 36 has a large, comfortable deck saloon with excellent vision around and can seat six at the table.
Whilst offering up to six berths she can be easily managed by two.
With her long, heavy keel she is very stable, and the powerful bow thruster gives her easy manoeuvrability when docking and going astern.
With inside and outside steering positions, wet weather gear is rarely used.
The beauty of a Motorsailer like Colne Rose is that you are much less restricted by the weather. With a powerful engine and the protection offered, you can sheet the mizzen in hard and motor to windward in comfort. The Mizzen then acts as a steadying sail giving a much easier ride.
She also sails well under partially rolled genoa and mizzen.
In previous ownership, as “Chookapa”, she spent many years sailing in the Baltic. In current ownership she has cruised the Stand-Mast route in the Netherlands twice and visited the Chanel islands and Brittany down the Bay of Biscay including exploring the Morbihan, Brest, Camaret-sur-Mer, La Roche Bernard and the River Vilaine, etc., as far South as Piriac Sur Mar, twice.
One owner referred to his Cromarty 36 as “his country cottage afloat”.
In the 2020 Insurance survey, the surveyor summarised: - “Colne Rose was found to be in excellent order and very well equipped, with no major or serious defects apparent, and no recommendations given here other than to continue general maintenance and routine renewals with as much diligence as has been shown so far during this ownership.
