This STUNNING 1974 Chris Craft Roamer 60 has undergone an extensive and complete restoration. No expense was spared and the quality of the upgrades and added comfort & luxury will amaze you. Take a look at this:

THE RENOVATION OF ARABIYAH

The boat was essentially “gutted” with much of the original interior removed down to the bare aluminum hull. It was not our intent to restore it to original “classic” ChrisCraft configuration. Our intent was to have a usable, comfortable, boat that made sense and was a comfortable live aboard will all of the normal conveniences. All wiring was inspected and repaired, replaced or modified as required to accommodate new lighting and various other electrically powered systems. All headliners were replaced. Plumbing was inspected and repaired as necessary or modified to accommodate new locations and systems. All teak in the interior was hand sanded and between 12 and 16 coats of varnish were applied hand sanded between each coat.  All cabinetry work, wiring, plumbing, painting and finish coat varnishing was done by a master craftsman in all areas of boat work. Restoration included exterior painting from the water line to the top of the radar mast as well as interior varnishing.

INTERIOR

Pilot House

All teak (and there is a lot of it!) was stripped and received 16 coats of hand sanded varnish. The curved Plexiglas windshield side windows were polished out and all scratches and glazing removed. The headliner was replaced and all plumbing and wiring covered by the headliner was inspected and repaired or replaced as necessary. A Flagship Marine air conditioner with electric heat is installed in the pilot house.  There is a U-Line ice maker installed in the pilot house bench seat but it is inoperative.  Simple replacement if the buyer sees fit to replace it. The pilot house windshield has a see-through cover to provide shade and privacy.

Galley:

Galley is up, forward of the salon. It is equipped with full size Frigidaire electric range, trash compactor, refrigerator with top freezer, Whirlpool dishwasher all in stainless steel. The sink is stainless steel and includes a garbage disposal. Large black granite counter top. Additional storage cabinets for kitchen items above the range with additional lighting below the cabinets, refrigerator, adjacent to the entry into the galley (both sides), below the sink and to each side of the dishwasher. A pull out spice cabinet is located between the range and trash compactor. Headliner was replaced. New wiring and plumbing was installed to accommodate the new appliances and provide better lighting.

Salon:

All of the teak in the salon was hand sanded and varnished sanding between each coat. A new air conditioner enclosure and cabinet was fabricated along the starboard bulkhead and it provides abundant storage. The headliner was replaced and black carpet installed. Black miniblinds provide privacy. A pop-up TV cabinet is installed of the aft portside bulkhead which includes an entertainment storage area. The sliding glass doors also have screen doors. There are two Cruiseair air conditioners servicing the galley and salon. A new cabinet was fabricated on the starboard side forward which contains one AC unit with additional storage for dishes, pans, etc. One AC unit is located in the forward part of salon on starboard side, one below the galley countertop on the port side. On the port side aft there is a pop up (stowable) TV, a 42” Samsung LED TV, a CD storage cabinet and a Bose sound system. Sliding glass doors provide access to the aft deck. There is adequate lighting (all dimmable) except the 12VDC lights with a  new headliner. All teak wood work hand sanded and refinished with at least 12 coats of varnish. Black mini-blinds installed on all windows except sliding glass doors. The old blinds for the sliding glass doors are available, however, they were damaged during the restoration.

Aft Deck:

The aft deck is fully enclosed with canvas and Isinglass and includes screens. The deck is finished with polyurethane. There is an original Chris Craft bar on the forward starboard side and an enclosed chest freezer on the port side. The headliner was replaced.  The owners have occasionally used the aft deck as an extra bedroom with an air mattress. Being fully enclosed makes it quite comfortable. Leaving the screen doors to the salon open provides the same temperature in both areas whether it is hot or cold. There is a hatch to the lazarette which provides storage and access to the lazarette bilge area. Two spare propellers, a spare anchor and spare lines are stored there as well as a portable fire extinguisher and life vests.

Forward Cabin:

This cabin was originally designated “Crew Quarters” and included a small sink in the laundry room, a fold down table aft of a linens storage cabin and the head was very basic. The old toilet was attached to the side of the hull and was quite high relative to the floor (deck). All of the old facilities were removed and a Raritan ElectroScan system and Atlantes toilet were installed.  The fold down table was removed and storage cabinets added to the aft wall of the cabin. Additional storage cabinets were added to the starboard side wall. A new Flagship Marine air conditioner with electric heat was installed in the bottom portion of the linen storage cabinet.   Electrical outlets were installed at convenient locations and additional lighting is provided. A TV is available utilizing a DirectTV wireless system.

The cabin is finished in overall light lavender with white cabinets and varnished fiddle rails. The carpet is black and the headliner is new.

Laundry Room:

The existing cabinetry was removed and new cabinets, drawers and a small shelf were built and installed. The electrical control panel is located in the laundry room. New smoked Plexiglas was installed and the door frames varnished.  The panel was covered with burled walnut laminate. All wiring, electrical connectors and circuit breakers were inspected and repaired or replaced as necessary.  The washer and dryer are located under a large counter and are relatively new Maytag units. There is a pull-out cabinet between the units for laundry supply storage.

The laundry room is finished in off white with varnished teak trim. The cabinets are finished in high gloss white. The floor is teak finished in urethane with each board separated by black sealer in the traditional manner. The headliner was replaced. The washer and dryer (original units removed and replaced) are relatively new and work very well.

Climate Control:

The boat is equipped with seven air conditioners, two Cruiseair units and five Flagship Marine units. Flagship Marine units are Mil/Spec/Commercial grade and are used by U.S. Navy and Coast Guard vessels. They are not reverse cycle units with the heating located inside of the units. Simple and effective. A high-capacity recirculation pump was replaced (approx. 2017). It services all seven air conditioning units.

Engine Rooms:

The engine rooms are full walk-ins with removable walls in the central hallway. This gives complete access to the engines and subsystems. There are work benches at the forward end of both engine rooms.  There are three overhead lights in each engine room, two 120VAC and one 12VDC.

The port engine room also contains a Village Marine water maker, a Niad stabilizer system, the CAPAC system, the air conditioner relay box, an air compressor for the air horns and fender inflation and the port side FireBoy fire protection system as well as a 15KW Onan generator. A spare prop shaft is also stored here.

The starboard engine room contains the house water pump, house water system filter, the water heater, the starboard FireBoy fire protection system and a 15KW Onan generator. A vice and tool box are located on the work bench.

All four 8D batteries were replaced in November 2021.

Engines and Generators:

When Arabiya was purchased by her current owners in 2007, an engine survey was performed by a well-respected dedicated diesel engine technician. The engines surveyed very well. At that time, the hours registered were 683.6 (Port) and 672.4 (Stbd), however, total time on the engines and generators is uncertain due to the Hobbs meters having been previously replaced. Currently, the meters are registering approximately 800 hours. During current ownership, the same technician has professionally maintained the boat, including routine engine room services, repairs and upgrades:

Electric fuel pumps were installed on both generators (2021). The portside generator water pump was replaced on 11/5/21. The removed fuel and water pumps are on the boat and are rebuildable. The port engine outboard turbo exhaust riser was replaced on 6/23/16. All injectors on both engines were replaced (2019). At that time, a compression check was performed on both engines. All cylinders in both engines were in the upper 400 psi range and equal.

A FloScan system was installed (2018). The Detroit 12V71TI’s are known for their longivity, and if properly maintained, should provide many more years of dependable use.  There is a spare prop shaft stored in the portside engine room.

Main Companionway:

The main companionway runs the full length of the boat beginning at the forward cabin and ending at the master cabin. Original ChrisCraft wall covering was retained. All doors including engine room doors are varnished in high gloss, the walls in off white and the carpet is black.  There is a storage cabinet adjacent to the master head door for linen storage. It also contains the ElectroScan salt tank and associated plumbing. The headliner is new. Lighting is either 120VAC or 12VDC

Mid-Cabin:

The mid cabin contains a spacious storage closet, a built in desk and a settee which converts into bunk beds. There are storage drawers beneath the settee. The cabin is finished in off white with varnished teak trim and a new headliner. The carpet is black.

Master Head:

The master head was completely gutted down to bare aluminum and the headliner removed. All of the existing facilities were removed. All wiring was inspected and repaired or replaced with new wiring added to accommodate new lighting, the installation of a Flagship Marine air conditioner with electric heat, a Raritan Atlantes toilet and Raritan Electra Scan system. The old Jacuzzi tub was removed and a new shower installed. The floors are urethane finished teak.  New cabinets and a countertop were constructed and counter top sinks, faucets and associated plumbing were installed. There are five small halogen lights above the counter. The space is painted Chinese Red, the headliner is light beige, the toilet is black as are the fiddle rails. There is access from the main companionway for use of the head by guests and a pocket door into the master cabin.

Master Cabin:

The space now used for the master cabin originally consisted of two small cabins one designated the “master” the other “guest”. The bulkhead between the two was removed and the entire space stripped down to bare walls with all old cabinetry, headliner and floor covering removed.  All wiring was inspected, repaired or replaced and re-routed for the lighting.  New cabinets were constructed lining the full length of both sides of the stateroom and a new bed frame built to accommodate a queen size bed. Night stands are built in. All cabinet faces are done in Ebony Macassar (also known as Tiger Wood), counter tops are black as is all wood trim except doors which are varnished teak. The area under the bed is a large storage area accessed by lifting the bed up from the foot of the bed, the head of the bed being hinged.  Lighting is more than adequate. A small guest head was removed and the space converted into a cedar lined closet. The built in master cabin air conditioner is located in the closet with full access to the mechanicals. The headliner was replaced in light beige, the carpet black.

Aft Deck:

Teak with black caulked deck seams and finished in high gloss urethane. An enclosed freezer is installed on the port side to match original refinished Original Original Chris Craft bar which is located on the starboard side, canvas is in excellent condition but the Isinglass is not. I am in contact with Mr. Chad Parker about getting the isinglass replaced.  Isinglass inner, screens outer all can be rolled up for a fully open aft deck. There are two spare propellers, a spare anchor and spare lines in the aft cabin lazarette storage area.

Flybridge:

The fly bridge area is very large and great for cruising and entertaining. An electric grill, sink and refrigerator are installed on the port side forward in a custom built aluminum cabinet. A settee is located on the aft part of the upper deck. The helm station is covered with a black Bimini top. The windshield has been replaced by with bronze Lucite. There is a large storage to the portside of the hatch and forward of the flybridge pilot station. The mast is operated hydraulically up and free falls down slowly against hydraulic pressure. The 13’ Boston Whaler dinghy is located on the far aft deck adjacent to the davit and has a black Sunbrella cover. The engine is a Nissan 30 HP four stroke. The rails are all done in Cetol Natural Teak with high gloss finish. All of the dodger canvas is excellent condition and is Sunbrella. All canvas work was done by Lynn at Toucan Canvas who has since relocated.

Exterior:

The Portuguese Bridge is located forward of the pilot house. All rails and anchor pulpit are done in Cetol Natural Teak with High Gloss top coat. The entire boat from the water line up was repainted in 2009 through 2012 (you can’t paint Awlgrip during the winter) by Donnie Foster using the roll and tip method. The colors are white with black trim and copper stripes to blend in with the wood rails. There are small areas of blister corrosion in the paint at the aluminum / wood interface. Overall the paint is in very good condition.

Stabilizers:

The boat is equipped with NAID stabilizers that are operational.
