Accommodations

Interior Accommodations
The interior accommodations aboard Moon Dance are remarkably spacious, open and functional. All upholstery and foam are new. All reading and overhead dome lights are new. The bulkheads and cabinetry are solid teak and teak veneer with teak and holly cabin sole and white reflective headliners. Ventilation from two opening hatches with screens, four opening ports with screens (new glass and screens 2014), four chrome dorade vents and a Hella fan is excellent. Four large fixed windows in the main cabin let in additional light. Moon Dance has comfortable standing headroom of 6'1".
The forward cabin has a vee berth which provides 6'4" and 7'0" berths with a cushion insert to form a double berth. Cushions and foam were new in 2012. Stowage forward includes two drawers and two lockers. There are shelves above each berth. LED lights include a reading light to port and a dome light to starboard with white and red light for night vision. Two opening ports with new glass and screens and a large opening hatch with screen provide good ventilation. The head (new Jabsco in 2010 including all new hoses) is aft and to port of the forward cabin. The enclosure is easy to clean, molded fiberglass and includes a vanity sink with pressure hot and cold water, foot pump, shower and shower sump pump. There is storage in a locker outboard the head and shelves with Plexiglas sliding doors above and an electrical outlet. Amenities include a teak towel rack, teak floor grate, and mirror on the forward bulkhead. Opening port with screen and vent provide good ventilation for the space. Opposite the head is a large hanging locker.
The main salon is bright and spacious. Settees are to port and starboard. The port settee converts to a double berth. A teak table, stored against the forward port bulkhead, covers a magazine rack. When lowered, the table seats four. Outboard each settee are two lockers with teak woven panel doors separated by bookshelf. A bulkhead mounted 19-inch flat screen TV with built in DVD is located on the starboard bulkhead. There is additional storage outboard the seat backs as well as in lockers below the settees. A small hinged table lifts up from the aft port settee bulkhead to provide an extended work area for the galley. Four large fixed windows bring lots of light into the area. Three reading lights, two bulkhead mounted Imtra lights and two dome lights (white and red) provide ambiance at night. The large opening hatch with screen delivers good ventilation. Teak handholds along the port and starboard cabin sides add security when moving about the cabin.

Aft and to port is the L-shaped galley. The galley counter top is trimmed in teak. There is plenty of counter space to prepare your meals in port or underway. The companionway stairs also offer a large drawer for galley utensils. The stainless-steel sink faces aft and has a manual foot pump as well as hot and cold pressure water. Below the sink is a locker. Forward of the ice box is a two-burner gimbaled LPG stove/oven with cover and safety bar. Pots and pan storage is below the stove. Outboard the counter is a large sliding door cabinet with shelf above. Engine access is under the inboard part of the counter behind the companionway stairs.
Opposite the galley is the forward facing nav station with top opening chart table. The nav station includes two drawers, one drawer is a special tool drawer containing a complete tool kit, and a locker below. The battery switch is under the chart table, The chart table seat is the forward end of the large quarter berth. A shelf runs along the outboard side of the quarter berth. Small lockers on the aft bulkhead on either side of the companionway provide access to cockpit instrument wiring.

The propeller shaft is slightly offset to minimize rudder turbulence. At the pulpit there is a double bow roller followed by a large anchor locker. Pushpit, pulpit and stanchions are stainless steel with double life lines and gates port and starboard. The swim ladder is integral to the aft rail. Cleats are mounted at the bow and transom as well as on the cockpit coamings, There are teak handholds on the cabin top and a teak cap rail. The cockpit has a deep lazarette to port and shallow lazarette to starboard. Storage is also available under the raised helm seat with the propane bottles in a separate locker in the port aft quarter. The binnacle is fitted with a compass, engine controls and a teak glass holder.

Exceptional performance, seaworthiness, and stability are the hallmark of the Sabre 30 MkIII. Her performance record, both on extended cruises and on the race course, is a tribute to her design and she is a comfortable yacht to sail. With a high aspect ratio rig and reduced wetted hull surface, the Sabre 30 is an excellent light-air performer.

We purchased Moon Dance four years ago from a very fastidious owner who spared no expense maintaining her, they added the asymmetrical spinnaker, a new Force 10 oven, painted the mast and boom, and several other proactive maintenance items.
We have continued to care for her by adding several upgrades including but not limited to an AIS-B and chartplotter, a new 105% headsail from Ballard Sails, and a new mainsail from Eric Taylor sails. Propeller shaft was updated to stainless steel. Her mainsail cover was recently replaced and the Iverson's dodger was completely restitched a couple years ago.

Moon Dance is cleaned by a diver every 4 months and anodes replaced as needed. We successfully race her locally, and we’ve taken two extended voyages to Desolation Sound, and cruised throughout the Gulf and San Juan Islands. She is solid, fast, safe, and reliable. Moon Dance is ready and waiting to cast off and head to the islands. The high quality Iverson's dodger with large SS handholds and forced air heat will keep its crew warm and safe.

Sabre Yachts are distinguished cruising boats and the Sabre 30 Mk III is no exception. Moon Dance, a 1988 Sabre Mark III, clearly packs a lot of comfortable, living space into a small package, and she does so without succumbing to the RV syndrome of some high freeboard, plastic vessels. Her purpose is to sail, and she meets that purpose while living up to Sabre's design goal of "performance, sea-kindliness and stability." Moon Dance will be a great boat for exploring the inland waters of the Salish Sea and beyond, and equally happy racing around the bouys or competing in distance races.
