The Northman 1200 offers a level of comfort and stability usually reserved for much larger vessels. Its modest sea draft of 0.7m makes it a great choice for coastal waters, rivers or inland waterways. This boat has a 250hp Yanmar diesel engine with large fuel tank and benefits from both bow and stern thursters for easy manoeuvrability. The accommodation is remarkably spacious with the ability to sleep 8. It is an ideal boat for those looking for an apartment on the water. It comes with Webasto heating to all three cabins and both heads, a well appointed galley/saloon with a range of lighting options. Outside there is a synthetic teak platform, cockpit and side decks. Maritime equipment includes a modern Raymarine Axiom plotter and VHF radio. For entertainment there is TV and Kenwood radio with speakers in the saloon and cockpit.

The saloon comprises a generous 'L' shaped seating area with two sets of cushions. The ash dining table is interchangeable with two circular granite occasional tables - both options have height adjustments. The saloon area can be converted to a fourth double bed. There are 2 double AC (UK) sockets and a double USB socket. There is a tall cupboard with two shelves that offers generous hanging and storage space. The flooring is laminate teak with fitted cream carpet and vinyl floor options. There is an electric sunroof with blackout and fly screens. The side windows are all fitted with blinds and the windscreen and saloon door have blackout curtains.
The galley area houses a diesel oven and hob, an AC microwave, a DC refrigerator and a 23" DC TV with remote control. There are storage cupboards in every spare space, including a corner cupboard, cutlery drawer, crockery drawer, 2 cupboards for glasses and an under-sink cupboard with integrated pull-out bin.
The main cabin has an easily accessible island double bed, dimmable mood lighting, two reading lights, a mirrored vanity unit (with light), full length wall mirror, small wardrobe, three cupboards, escape hatch, two side windows with blinds, 2 double AC sockets (UK), 2 USB ports and the controls for the programmable diesel heating.
The two guest cabins each have mood lighting, a small wardrobe and cupboard, opening hatch window and long side window with blinds, single AC socket and USB port.
The two identical heads each have an electric WC with shower over, washbasin, under sink storage cupboard, wall mirror and opening hatch and opening side window.
The cockpit has a tilting bench that offers views of saloon and the sea, a drinks fridge, breakfast Abar area that opens out and deep storage lockers. The whole area is covered by canvas with door and window openings. A hatch and steps lead to an exceptionally spacious engine room with a soundproofed engine compartment. The stern has a large swim platform, large enough for a picnic table and chairs. It also offers an outside hot and cold shower and retractable ladder for ease of access when swimming.
The wide, lit, side decks lead to a double seat with drinks holders on the bow and steps leading to the sundeck, with two sun pads and drinks holders, on the roof.
The boat is easy to drive and can be managed single handed with a helm door opening to mid-ships cleats. The bow and stern thrusters, throttle and helm are accessible from the starboard door. The touch screen, modern chart plotter is easy to use and all controls are straightforward and accessible, including the VHF radio. There is an electric windlass and a "limp home" engine control system in case of emergencies.
The boat is very stable even in challenging sea conditions and is very economical at cruising speeds of 8 to 10 knots. It is just as much at home on rivers or inland waterways.
In October 2022 the boat was antifouled and polished, the engine was serviced and the anodes replaced. It has completed less than 50 engine hours and travelled less than 200 nm in its first year of ownership. The boat has the remaining manufacturer's warranty expiring in October 2023 and the engine has a warranty extending to October 2025.
