Description

Accommodations

The interior of the Beneteau 40 is light, modern, spacious and welcoming.  Access is through a wide hatch with gentle angle on the companionway stairs and handholds on each side.

The Galley is to port and tucks in parallel to the companionway.  It is well appointed with fridge & separate freezer, microwave, propane stove w/ oven, and double sink with lots of storage and hot and cold pressurized water.

To starboard is the head, with electric toilet,  separate shower and access doors from the salon or aft cabin.  The aft cabin has a queen sized bunk, with inner spring mattress, that runs athwartships. Good storage as well as a hatch and portlight for ventilation. Batteries are in a cabinet forward of the bunk, along with inverter and battery charger. Battery switches are conveniently located near the entrance to the cabin.

The Salon consists of the nav station, with electrical panel and some instruments to port.  Forward of the nav station is a straight settee.  Barometer and clock on port bulkhead. To starboard is the dinette with settee on 3 sides. The table has been cut down and trimmed with oak to allow easier movement around it. Salon upholstery was replaced in 2016 and is in excellent condition.  The eyebrow windows in the sides of the coachroof, overhead windscreens and opening hatches allow for a great deal of  light and good ventilation.

The forward cabin has a large V-berth, large hatch, storage port and starboard and a vanity with stool, as well as a good deal of space in which to move around.

The Beneteau Oceanis 40 was the first of the new generation of Beneteaus, which carried the beam all the way aft. It created greater interior volume and a large, extremely comfortable cockpit, the dual helms allowing good flow from walk-through transom to companionway.  The flatter undersides changed the sailing characterstics and they sail fast and flat (not a lot of heel).

The interior wood is slightly lighter than previous generations, with warm tones which are offset by the white coachroof and hull sides. Eyebrow windows and lots of hatches and portlights give light and good ventilation. The interior is spacious and well appointed and the 2-cabin, 1-head layout makes for generous cabins and a large head with separate shower stall.

Hoapili's has been under current ownership for six years and has been actively sailed from Maine to the Bahamas, so is well set up for cruising and is ready to take you South this winter.  They have just returned to the Chesapeake Bay from a summer in the North East.
