Southerly 49 was the second (the first has already been discontinued Southerly 46 RS) attempt to make the shipyard the yacht, retaining quality long cruiser (blue water cruiser), but on road performance approaching cruiser high-speed (performance cruiser). Given the traditionally large displacement of these boats, it was not easy but partly succeeded. However, the main purpose of this yacht is not a high-speed throws from Marina to Marina, and far (up to round-the-world) swim with the big non-stop transitions. The boat also has a non-stereotypical two story interior layout that brings her to a yacht with a layout type raised saloon.
