Comet 50SC is the first truly cruising racing (racer-cruiser) a boat from the company Comar designed for racing under the rules of IRC or ORC. The design of the yacht is almost entirely made of carbon fiber (hence the index SC, that is Sport Carbon) and the boat was very easy. The great mass of the ballast is possible to obtain a very high righting moment that allows you to carry full sail, an area where Comet is also endowed with 50 in excess. As a result, the boat was very fast, accelerating in the gusts and responsive to any deviation of the steering wheel. The yacht performed well during regattas such as the Giraglia. There is a more modest version of the 50S in which the carbon fiber for the most part replaced by a conventional fiberglass. It is more oriented to those who are not ready to enter a serious race distance and is met with club regattas and long-sailings — on-Board comfort enough, the boat is well suited for cruising.
